JV Boys fall to 0-2-0 after 5-1 loss to Oshkosh

3 Dec 2014 by Warren Macey

The JV Boys had a rough start to the game in Oshkosh on Saturday giving up all 5 goals, on just 16 shots, in the first half of the game. The first two goals came on the power-play, including one while the Warhawks were 2 men short, giving the Ice Hawks a 2-0 lead mid-way through the first period. The Ice Hawks added one more with 2:08 remaining in the first, to lead 3-0 at the end of the period.

In the second period the Warhawks gave up 2 more goals in the first 6 minutes extending the Oshkosh lead to 5-0. After the 5th Ice Hawk goal, Greyson MacLean came in to relieve Peter Genatempo between the pipes for Arrowhead. MacLean saw just 2 shots in the remainder of the second period and the teams went to the locker room at intermission with Oshkosh still up by 5 goals.

The third period saw the Warhawks come to life and turn the balance of possession time around outshooting the Ice Hawks 8-3 in the final period. A much better period by Arrowhead resulted in a goal with 3:49 to play by freshman Alex Jackson, assisted by junior Alec Bischoff, to ruin the shutout for the Oshkosh goaltender. This was the only goal that the Warhawks would get as the game ended in a 5-1 loss to Oshkosh.

This was the JV boy’s second loss in as many games to start the season, falling to 0-2-0, and they will look to turn their luck around on Tuesday in their home opener when they take on the Germantown Ice Bears.
