Arrowhead hockey team wins twice

After starting the season with a 5-4 loss to host Oshkosh, Arrowhead’s boys hockey team won two games last week to improve to 2-1 on the season.

The Warhawks whipped visiting Germantown last Tuesday night by a 6-1 score and then topped host Greendale on Saturday, 5-2.

Up next for Arrowhead is a Lake Country showdown at the Naga-Waukee Ice Center against rival Kettle Moraine/Mukwonago/Oconomowoc on Tuesday. Faceoff is set for 5:45 p.m. AHS will play Saturday at Kenosha.

In the win over Germantown, the Warhawks led 2-0 after the first period, 3-0 after two periods and then exploded for three goals in the final stanza.

Colin McBride scored both first period goals for the winners, and later in the game, Arrowhead got scores from Ben Beversdorf, Zach Hopkins, Jaxson Carr and Ben Dvorak. Dvorak also had two assists and Connor Akers, Matt Chomniak, John Sorenson and Jack Schlinsog had one assist each.

J.J. Gerlach played in the goal and turned back 12 of 13 shots. AHS finished the night with 41 shots on goal.

On Saturday, the Warhawks made it two straight wins. Greendale led 1-0 after the first period but then watched as the visitors scored four goals in the second period and one in the third.

AHS had 46 shots on goal, 22 more than the Panthers. Gerlach saved 22 of 24 shots for the Warhawks.

Scoring goals for the Warhawks were Kylar Fenton, Elijah Tormala, Sorenson, McBride and Patrick Berges. Dylan Cox added two assists for the winners and Caleb Beversdorf, Ben Beversdorf, Tormala and McBride had one each.
