AHS Hockey Team Romps from Lake Country Now

Carl Valimont’s second stint as coach of the Arrowhead’s boys hockey team was a huge success Tuesday night.

Hosting Oshkosh North at the Mullett Center in the season opener, the Warhawks whipped the overmatched Spartans, 10-0.

“It was a great way to start the season,” said Valimont. “The good thing is we dictated the outcome. The guys came out and pushed the pace. We did some very good work on the forecheck.”

Arrowhead took charge from the start, scoring four unanswered goals in the opening period. From there, the Warhawks added five goals in the second period and one in the final stanza.

“What I liked best was that the guys are eager to learn,” Valimont said. “These guys were 7-18 last year. But this is just the first game. Success has to be earned, and we know that.”

In the first period, the Warhawks got goals from Ben Beversdorf, Jack Schlinsog, Caleb Beversdorf and Jonathan Daury. Assisting on those goals were Caleb Beversdorf, Jaxson Carr, Daury, Kylar Fenton, Ben Beversdorf and Justin Paddock.

Scoring in the seocnd half were Carr, Daury, Connor Akers, Matthew Chomniak and Caleb Beversdorf. Collecting assists on those scores were Schlinsog, Elijah Tormala, Caleb Beversdorf, Daury Akers.

Carr scored the game’s final goal in the third period with Daury and Schlinsog getting the assist.

Goalie JJ Gerlach turned back all 10 Oshkosh North shots.

“This was a greart way to start,” Valimont said. “We did a lot of good things, but it’s going to be a work in progress. But I like the way we started.”
